What if there was no night? 💤

There is nothing like the peace and serenity of the night. No other time of the day can remotely be as beautiful as the night. With the gleaming stars and the beautiful moon, the charm of the night cannot be dulled.

But I wonder, what if there was no night? What if the sun never went down?

Well, with the night gone, we would probably have a less accurate or perhaps no concept of time. We might go from one day to the next without realising it. Would we actually sleep at a pre-decided time which was something like an ancestral passdown?

I wonder how we would differentiate between all the days and years. I wonder how the world would function when there was no darkness to tell them that it is time to sleep.  If there was no night, we would never see the twinkling stars. Would we still be aware of their presence?

My one stupid yet true concern in that life would be “When will I binge Netflix!!?!!?”

One thing that I am certain would not exist is probably the hundred photos I have of the night sky. If there was no night, would people not be scared of darkness anymore? Would our crime rates drop? Maybe the night’s disappearance would lessen the guts of criminals of the night. Maybe, we would be working 24 hours and the world would be a safer place.

Imagine having to figure out when to go to a nightclub or when to go to your office! Imagine not being able to see the beautiful fireworks in the night sky. Imagine not getting the memorable experience of staying up late just to stare at the stars, not being able to have the 3 AM conversations with your best friend.

There would be nothing like the nightlife left and we would all become a bit boring, I guess. We would probably come up with interesting alternatives!

This is just my vivid imagination and I would love to hear yours in the comment section. I do not have the answers for any of the above but I would love to find out!

Free yet captured!

Freedom is not just the breaking of shackles

Freedom is transcendental bliss

The word Freedom has come to be associated with physical struggles and locked shackles. What the world forgets is that freedom has different meanings, different bodies and different virtues.

Freedom signifies the beauty that resides in being able to make your own decisions. Freedom stands for the shattering of prejudices and limitations. It stands for emerging as your true and whole self after the fight. It is not just fought physically but also mentally.

We have fought so many wars for physical freedom in the historic times that we have neglected the need for mental freedom. We look at people around us and think they have no bounds, but what we can’t see is the heavy mental baggage that they carry. What we don’t see is their scars, their fights, their definitions of freedom.  It may seem like they are free from complaints and naggings but their mind might be fighting its own monsters.

So, I believe freedom is the courage to stand up and fulfill your wishes. It is the innate need to achieve what you aim for. It is the smile that appears on your face when you are safe, healthy and happy.

To you, freedom may be staying out as late as you like. To her, freedom might look like no more ‘being silent’. To him, it might be not having to justify himself every time.

For some, freedom is another word for acceptance. It may seem odd but acceptance is the most natural aspect that we crave for. If someone is accepted for being exactly and truly her, she might find her freedom. If someone is accepted for his differences, he might know what it is to be free.

Some countries have a long history of freedom struggles and that freedom is the greatest freedom but now, it is not the only kind that we need. We need the freedom to be us, we need the freedom to love us and we need the freedom to accept every soul.

History has shown time and time again that no one can rule over another. It has shown how people will give up whatever it takes to be free. Now, our struggle is against these invisible norms that society and our minds have set for us. This struggle is just as hard and just as tiring. We need to paint our realities and accept them. We need to find the courage to smile in the face of society and be our version of ‘free’.

Beauty v/s brains

In life, every coin has two sides. Every choice has two faces. So, if asked ‘what would your desired trait be? Beauty or Brains’ what would your answer be?

There is certainly no right answer here. Every person chooses one in life and we have no control over our desires. If I had to choose one, my answer would be brains. Not because being attractive is repulsive in my eyes but because I find beauty in all, thanks to my brain. I would choose brain because I find intelligence to be a non-aging trait. I feel an inner glow when someone calls me intelligent. I feel good when I prove to the world that I have the brains it takes to make correct and mature decisions. I feel good when someone comes to me for advice because they believe I have the intelligence it takes to give the right solutions and advice.

When I am talking about intelligence, I do not restrict it to words in a book. I do not restrict it to scoring marks. I believe that knowledge has no bounds and thus, neither does intelligence.

I have always felt that being intelligent is a necessity while being beautiful is a pleasure. By that, I mean nothing but the fact that I have seen people rushing to find a doctor or a lawyer when the need arises but we don’t rush to a model in times of necessity. They are a part of a different spectrum of life.

However, I would not ridicule anyone for choosing beauty over brains since that has a certain charm too. They have an aura which craves a second look and that is a commendable feat too. After all, don’t we all catch ourselves looking at models in a magazine or actors in the tv and wishing that we looked like them?

And people who got the best of both worlds ‘beauty with brains’ are just plain lucky! So a big congrats to them lol.

In the end, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and intelligence has no definite measure.
